Missing my hermes parcel

A buyer of one of my items has just contacted me to say that the hermes driver as left her a card saying that they has left the parcel 'outside the back' but that she can't find it. She's asked me what happens next.

I've dealt with non receipt claims before but only sending through Royal Mail. I've asked her to check with her neighbours and also to call the number on the card to confirm where it was left. If there is still no joy then I assume that I will simply have to refund and then claim compensation from hermes? Can I do this when they say that they have delivered? There will be no signature and I didn't request one.

no I don't know if you can claim as it shows as delivered. With ebay the buyer won't win the ebay case will they as you have proof of delivery?

Thanks. Yes, the info I can see online shows it as having been delivered to an outbuilding. What would they claim? Item not received and then I provide the transit and delivery confirmation to ebay and they find in my favour?

Part of me wonders if the parcel might "appear" if I (politely) explain that..... I'm a cynical old cow!

I have claimed from MyHermes even when the it was signed for.

Buyer insisted it wasn't her signature, or any family members - we assumed it was the driver's signature!

MyHermes refunded me.

Really? I can try then if there's no joy after her search. Thanks

I always put "no safe place" on my Hermes don't know if that would stop them leaving it somewhere though?

Itspardonnotwhat · 20/05/2013 17:13

I didn't specify a safe place. I assumed (obviously wrongly) that they would therefore not leave it anywhere. Accordingly to the card that was left the parcel was apparently left under the kitchen window. Don't know whether that was in full view of the road or not.....

i don't think a buyer would win a not received dispute if it is showing as delivered, even if there was no signature.

Itspardonnotwhat · 20/05/2013 17:57

Thanks, I think the same. Would ebay refund her in those circumstances? If it really has gone missing then obviously she is out of pocket and without the item.

Hermes put the last parcel they delivered to me into my bin. Confused

fergoose · 20/05/2013 18:07

No - I don't think ebay would refund her in those circumstances. I had a buyer claim not received, they opened a dispute, I gave the MyHermes tracked info showing delivered to a safe place and I won the dispute. I think my buyer was trying it on tbh.

Hard to know though isn't it, and if they're not then its pretty hard on them. This is a pretty big parcel, hard to miss but therefore equally easy to spot by a passing chancer. Don't think they'll be particularly impressed by the contents though!

She's checked her bins etc so I've emailed hermes and will take it from there once I get a response from them. If I can claim compensation I will but I won't be putting myself in a position whereby I'm out of pocket with this one!
