Items going for more than I think they are worth and I feel really guilty!

I have a few items on eBay that are due to end later tonight. I feel incredibly guilty because some buyers are willing to pay more for them than I think they are worth! For example a baby monitor. We've had it three years and although its in very good condition I really don't think it's worth the money bid ifyswim? I'm thinking of popping a cheque in the package to make up for it. What do you think? Feel incredibly guilty.

On eBay you win some and lose some, don't stress it. A secondhand baby monitor will be fine and the rechargeable batteries can be replaced if they don't hold much charge. I think there are people out there who don't shop around and assume that eBay is always cheapest. Remember, that to bid that high, others were willing to bid nearly as much.

I think you are completely daft! That is the whole point of ebay - people bid what they want to pay. Don't you dare give them a cheque.

Incidentally if you were refunding it would need to be paypal via the original payment, not by cheque - but that is irrelevant anyway.

Wouldn't worry about it. I put a limited edition CD on EB a couple of years ago (which wasn't that limited really, just record company marketing). It ended up going for over £200, I was over the moon. You can still buy it for £11 online, I think people just fell for the limited edition guff.

I agree with you, i've ended auctions early and sold to the bidder.. I've got brilliant feedback on ebay and I'm happy to let things go for a fair price. I think Its important to be a good seller especially if you want good feed back to give people confidence in you and to carry on selling afterwards

Not everyone will agree with me , but I'm not being 'higher than thou 'or sanctimonious here... if people bid too much it is their own fault and yes it goes for what it goes. But sometimes im surprised at how much people pay, but ill only end early if I think its going ridiculous

But I think you Just do what your conscience says and what makes you comfortable. . I once sold a dress where the buyer paid too much and refunded her some of it to her. she was happy with that and so was I .

You will remember this thread OP, when you sell stuff that's worth about £100 for 99p. It swings both ways.

Ironically, whenever I sell something mediocre for a high price, the seller is always really happy. When I sell a designer BNWT dress worth £120 for 99p, you can almost guarantee that there will be some complaint.
