Winner bidder has not contacted me - what should I do now?

The Ebay auction on the bike I was selling finished at 4pm yesterday. I put Collection Only in the auction advert and made it clear it would have to be collected.

I sent the winning bidder an invoice but they still haven't paid. I emailed them today to ask when they intended to pay for the bike and when they wanted to collect it?

Have had no response at all.

The buyer's address is 140 miles from my own so I think they've bid on it without realising they will have to come and pick it up.

How long do I leave it before contacting Ebay to say the buyer is ignoring me?

I've never had this situation before.

You can open a case with eBay I think 4 days after the auction finished.

And if it is a collection item make sure is cash on collection only. Don't let them pay by paypal! If they do pay by paypal refund and get them to pay cash when they (hopefully) pick up the bike.

4pm yesterday isn't very long ago, and they'll need to pay cash on collection anyway. I'd give them another day or so

you have to wait 4 days to open a case, and another 4 days to close it. You can get their number and give them a call

Just message them now to ask about arranging collection.

24 hours is nothing.
Sold 2 things Friday evening (96 hours ago). One is collection only: I have sent my details including phone No. to buyer and they have yet to ring to arrange anything.

Other one, will post, I have invoiced & no payment or msg yet. Hmm

Thanks for all your advice and for pointing out that I need to ask for cash. I'd put Paypal only in the auction advert as it never crossed my mind that people could collect the item and then claim they hadn't.

If no contact by Friday I will raise a case but isn't there the danger that if I do raise a case the buyer will give me negative feedback?

I have a good record to preserve.

Why do you say cash only? PayPal protects buyer and seller. I only pay by PayPal even for collection items.

paypal never protects the seller for a collected item - they have no proof of delivery whatsoever. Plus if the buyer pays by paypal, wants to return for a refund, they have to return with online proof of delivery to get their money refunded.

Plenty - after a non paying case has been closed a buyer can't leave a neg.

You can open the case on Thurs 4 days after the auction ended- and no they won't be able to leave you a neg.

Thank you. I didn't know that once you'd closed a case the buyer couldn't leave a neg - that's reassuring.

I will open a case on Thursday. This buyer has less than 20 previous transactions and all their previous feedback says what a prompt payer they are - well not my experience.

I think they've realised that they live too far away to collect in person and shouldn't have bid.

Still no word from the buyer so I sent them an email yesterday saying that if I had not heard from them by this Sat I would a raise.

Still no contact so I opened a case. Next thing a box pops up asking me if \I want to use Ebays Unpaid
item app which will open and close cases for me. SO I said -OK. Then looked for case details but it seems that this Unpaid item app will only open a case 32 days after the close of the auction -not quite what I had in mind. \I just want the original winner to bugger off so I can re-auction -not have it sitting around for another 32 days!

What am I doing wrong O wise Ebayers {confused}

Hi - an update

I opened a case and closed it after 8 days as buyer had still not been in touch. Ebay said that the buyer would get a non-payment mark against them.

Last weekend I relisted the item. Have had one bid from a buyer whose username is very, very similar to my non-paying buyer from the last time I auctioned the item. This new buyer has only a rating of 2 and only started buying items on ebay this month (having registered last summer).

I have contacted the new buyer and reminded them that the item must be collected from me i.e. I'm not posting it etc. So far no response.

If the new buyer doesn't contact me I'm tempted to cancel their bid. I'm pretty sure it's the same buyer as last time (who I have blocked).

I never expected this hassle Sad

You've been really unlucky. eBay is not usually that much hassle. Hopefully someone else will bid on it that's a genuine bidder. Good luck.

No reply from the new bidder - so becoming very suspicious that it will be a non-payment repeat of the last auction.

Why do some people bugger about?

So, it has had 940 views, has 75 watchers but only one bid.

Auction finishes at tea-time. Should be interesting.
