Today's new charges seem exorbitant.

Sad

A buyer introduced me to Collect+ last week, seems like the way forward for parcels.

I was pleasantly surprised how small most of my postage rises had to be, and some items even reduced.

Larger items will be tricky, agree.

Ahha, I've only looked at the cost for a larger item. I'm sure it's gone up from £5.30 to £6.30 which seems excessive.

The new pricing structure on size I think is abit clunky and awkward.

Try myHermes too, good for low eight but bulkier items - £3 to drop at store or £3.30 for them to collect it if less than 1kg. Imagine no post office queues if you use a courier! Recently used it to send a towel as would fit into the bulkier more expensive category for Royal Mail but doesn't actually weight that much.

Surely Royal Mail is going to lose a lot of business to courier firms?

I had a shock today - I always post 2nd class recorded, which was £3.15. Today, because my parcels were deemed too wide, it was £6.30. I didn't post and will have to repackage. Still 55p more.

Is it too big for Collect plus to take, INTFO?

INeedThatForkOff · 03/04/2013 19:58

I'm going to go with Collect+, thanks.

Are Royal Mail deliberately trying to discourage private customers? Hmm

Somewhere I read (not that online anonymous gossip is reliable, but) supposedly Royal Mail are trying to position themselves as the leading parcel delivery service & they genuinely think this is the way to do it. They did run a big consultation last year (reputedly).

I guess I've heard stranger things.
