yes - a final value fee which is a separate amount to a listing fee.

It works out about 10% of the final value price.
I never pay listing fees anyway as I start everything at 99p.

It is only worth starting at 99p if you are prepared to sell for that amount, and with only one bidder there is always that risk. If you start at the price you are willing to sell for on a free listing weekend at least you may get more for your item.

I put stuff on ebay in batches, start everything off at 99p. That makes people think the item is a bargain, I get lots of watchers and usually things end up at a higher price than identical/similar items with higher start prices. It works. I've been ebaying more or less since it started.

We all do it, think 'ooo that is only 99p' and put a watch on it.then when the auction is ending we want that bargain... and get silly with the bidding so it ends up not a bargain.

tbh I don't list on free listing weekends also because all the extra sellers coming on those weekends turn it into a buyers market - and the final prices are lower the following weekend when they are all ending.

You also get paypal fees, which are 20p+3.4% of the combined total of Postage AND selling price. All a FLW usually does is help you save about 5% of the usual 20% fees, if lucky.

Does anyone know of proof that FLW leads to lower selling prices? I really want someone to collect the data to prove that one way or the other. I am far from convinced.

I think it depends a lot on what you are selling. I sell an eclectic mix of things and that includes a number of things that are almost unique on eBay, so I can't research selling prices in advance. For these I am happier to list on a FLW so I can drop my starting price the next time if I decide I have over-priced.

Yes. Under a pound is free listing. I am sure this is because ebay wantz to entice the buyers in with lots of 99p bargains....which of course sell for lots more.
I start everything at 99p. Everything. Even my 13 yr old car with 3 months tax and mot. The dealer turned it down as trade in and the scrap yard offered me 50. Ebaying it got me £300.
Loads of my friends all sell on flw's. So there must be a gkut the following weekends of dvds, kids clothes and toys etc etc.

you get 100 free listings per month between 1p & 99p.

It is always a gamble though - if you only have 1 bidder then you may not get the price you want. I have sold items worth £50 for £1.04 - and wish I had started them higher on a flw.

Haha, this reminds me of a message I got from a watcher interested in my GHDs recently. They started at 99p and were on about £1.24 when she asked me how much they were as they seemed quite cheap. I'll say love! They went for £40
