I'm an occasional ebayer and never had a problem before. Bought an item which when I received it had a large stain on it. Messaged seller (with photo) asking to return - they said to keep it (it will go in the bin) and they will refund minus postage costs. Is this normal protocol?

no - they should refund you in full - they can't keep the postage costs, why should you be out of pocket

normally sellers will ask you to return the item, this should really be at their expense too, not yours.

Thanks for the response - that what I thought. Several messages and photos later refund reluctantly given! Do I still leave feedback?

up to you really - feedback is voluntary so you don't have to leave any if you don't want to.
