How long do you give late/non-payers?

before you start to get tough?

I sold a coat - auction ended Sunday 9pm- and I had stated payment has to be withing 48 hours unless contacted to say otherwise. I also state that they will not be chased if they don't pay, but the item will be relisted. I know that sounds draconian but so far never had any issues or to carry out my threat.

i emailed the winner yesterday afternoon to say the deadline for pay was approaching- no reply and no payment yet.

I sold 4 items that day- all ending same time- all other buyers have paid and I've posted the items now to them.

This buyer has a 99.4% feedback score.

I've emailed them again this morning.
Now what?

You have to give a week. Then you can open a claim.

It's more or less pointless giving people less than a week because the Ebay rules are 7 days before they will allow you to file a non-payment thingy.

OKAY> Thanks- had forgotten that.

no - you can open the claim on day 4, then you have to wait a further 4 days to close it. Only once closed can you relist or do a second chance offer.

No point emailing them further, just open your dispute tomorrow.

sorry not claim, I mean non paying bidder dispute.

just had an email from ebay saying that from the autumn you will be able to open non paying cases after 48 hours

as said above no point in stipulating 48 hours when present rules say 4 days to pay then 4 further days once non paying dispute, once rules change then that is fine, you can not relist until case closed as otherwise if buyer pays you will have to send and you have already relisted and you will have 2 buyers for 1 item
