Cash on collection buyer wants to send courier - help!

I have just sold a large, heavy (and expensive!) item as cash on collection. Buyer has mailed to say he wants to arrange a courier and he will pay through Paypal.

I know this is not a good idea for me - he can claim money back through Paypal, etc.

The lower bidder was only a fiver less, so would quite like to cancel winning bidder and give the second highest a second chance offer (though this bidder could do the same thing I suppose!)

Is this possible? Will I be able to cancel the first sale before they leave me hideous feedback?

I haven't responded to buyer at all yet, any advice?

no - not a chance

you have to send cancellation, and he either has to agree to it or ignore it and it will close automatically - but he can still leave a neg if he wants. He can of course refuse to cancel and you won't get your fees back.

You can't do a second chance offer until the first buyer agrees to cancel really

If first buyer wants to send a courier he can, but he will have to pay bank transfer or send cash. Otherwise no chance. Plus do you really want to wait around for a courier to turn up, plus have to pack the item too.

Thanks fergoose, thought I was having a great eBay week, now every transaction seems to have a pita buyer involved Grin
