I have no problem with this other than how do I protect myself. Will Paypal accept a tracking number from a courier in the same way as they do Royal Mail?

no you mustn't do it - you won't have any tracking and no protection, plus you still need to pack up & wait for courier to arrive. Cash only when they collect - no exceptions.

only do it if you are happy to pack for courier then just book it yourself unless absolutely gigantic it will cost about £5-8 plus insurance if worth more than £20 otherwise message and say, "thanks for offer unfortunately I am not available to allow courier to collect which is why it is collection only"

I was the buyer in this situation recently.

Once I had organised the courier pick-up at a time convenient for the seller, I paid her by BACS ahead of the pick-up.

courier was a man-with-van & item didn't have to be packaged at all - it was more expensive that way but much more convenient all round. I'll find you the website I used.

i was the seller in this instance. remember you will have to wait in for courier to collect. the courier in this instance cocked the collection up several times. the customer left me negative feedback for the length of time it took for it to be delivered and that it was damaged BY THE BLOODY COURIER - and despite the fact I gave them a full refund instantly, even though the item was in pristine condition when it left me...

proceed with caution.

arranged through \link{http://www.anyvan.com/\anyvan}

you put in what the item is & the pick-up & drop-off points, then drivers bid for the job (if they want it!)

packaged & sent via cheapest courier my chair would have cost about £25, but a) that was a burden for the seller & b) she works 9-5 so collection was impossible.

man-with-van (from Sussex) picked up from her (Wimbledon) on Sat morning & delivered to me (Lancashire) on Sun afternoon - with other pick-up/drop-offs en route - & it cost me £38, which I thought was fair

(of course if your thing is small & easy to pack, send via Collect+!)

anyvan drivers get customer feedback left & the one I used was clearly ideal for furniture - very careful

I have used Man and Van company and they did job quickly and affordably. I would suggest them if you need to transport something.

ONLY do this if the buyer is willing to pay by Bank transfer before collection, NOT PayPal. Organising their own courier opens up the possibility for many different headaches.
