Question about postage query, please advise.

I've bought an item, the postage is £6.50, Standard Delivery; Royal mail first class recorded. The vendor has messaged me to ask for the number of the courier - how should I reply? I'm a bit puzzled and worried there's been a mix-up

I'd just reply.

'Thanks for your query. I shall be taking it to the post office . I shall be using their recorded postage service and I am happy to supply the tracking number as soon as it is available.

I've never had this before and am now worried I've made an expensive mistake and panicked, but I think I'll just ask what they mean. The listing is quite clear about postage.

I'd reply saying 'did you mean this email to come to me? I purchased xxxx and have paid you £6.50 to send it recorded delivery as per the listing details. Please let me have the recorded delivery number as soon as you have sent the item, thank you'.

Yule thanks, I think you're right. I've just tried twice to respond, but have a reply that the message I'm trying to reply to is more than 90 days old. It's bizarre as my name is on it.

Are you sure they're not asking for your phone number for the courier? A couple of the couriers I use ask for the buyer's phone number.

If they are offering to send it courier rather than RM, then I wouldn't complain to be honest, it's more likely to reach you quickly.

A few messages back and forth and eventually the poor vendor realised she was conversing with low brain cells and explained that she needed my number . She was very nice about it, and yes, it was to ensure a quick delivery. I am composing nice feedback for it's arrival!
