Would anyone buy a dated kitchen?

We're in the process of buying a new house.
The kitchen will be replaced.
The existing one was put in in about 1970 & is very dated, but still usable.
Would it be worth trying to put it on ebay? My teen son thinks it might sell but I think it would be a big hassle taking it down & then we'd have to find a local buyer who would need to collect. We live in a rural area.
Any opinions would be gratefully received.

People might want it for spares. Or developers for a cheap kitchen. Or those after that "mid-century modern" look

It can't hurt to try and sell it..even if it means someone comes to take it away.

DH used to do up houses to sell. He did one house which was in a granny bungalow area, and the kitchen was very '80s. He needed a couple of kitchen cupboard doors, and was surprised but delighted to find they were still being sold.

The buyers thought the kitchen was lovely.

Some of the oddest things go for the highest prices on ebay, IME.

Could you post pics while kitchen is still place, then take apart and let buyer collect? If you think it's too much hassle, and don't need the money and can then don't bother. You could look on ebay to see what kitchen are going for.

That's a good idea about taking photos first LS. That way, if there's no interest, we won't have spend ages carefully taking it down. I did have a quick look at equivalent kitchens, but unsurprisingly I couldn't find any similar.

Post it on ebay, we sold our rubbish crap kitchen for £10, it saved us the hassle of taking it to the tip! We still laugh at the lovely gentleman who collected it, he was going to surprise his wife with a new kitchen.....poor poor woman...

make sure you state very clearly in the listing the time frame for removal, ie

"winning bidder to make contact within 24 hours of auction ended, kitchen must be removed on weekend of say 23/24th February in its entirety cash on collection only"

I'd be really surprised if you can't sell your kitchen units. I was looking for secondhand kitchen units myself recently - no way could I afford new ones - there are plenty of people around with very little cash to spare, and even the cheapest new kitchens cost hundreds of pounds.
If by any chance there are no takers through eBay, your kitchen will be SNAPPED UP really quickly if you register on Freecycle. It would be a pity just to chuck it when someone near you will definitely want it.

I've had a full inspection.
It really is flimsy, just painted chipboard. The cupboard doors slide, in fact one fell of when I was fiddling with it. The work surface looks like its been covered in sticky back plastic. I would feel really mean selling it.
I think I'll just give it away.

Just give it away, or put it on ebay for 99p starting price.

Stick it on Freecycle?

With a 99p starting price someone might buy it to put in their garage/workshop as that's what my dad has done in the past.

Sure they would as long as you r happy to let it go for cheap. Remember rental properties for students/holiday properties may bite! I've found I can sell almost anything on eBay as long as you don't expect to make a fortune!
