What is the point in listing an item with 'Best Offer' If you wont accept an offer?!

This is a $240 (USA) item I'm talking about here.

made a starting offer of 15% reduction ...

he relies I can reduce by $1 , but thats all?!

What is the point?!

I always wonder that , we wanted an item that was £16.50 or best offer , we offered £15.00 ( as a nice round number) and they came back to us and said they'd take £16.25 , pathetic! Needless to say we bought elsewhere .

best offer should mean at least 10% less I think; but have had really cheeky offers like £5 when BIN is £30

So now I set it up generally to reject offers less than 75/80% of asking price and to auto accept if at least 90% and then I consider those between the two
