What sells well in January?

Just been signed off work for 2 weeks & starting to get a little concerned about money! Is it worth trying to sell a few bits on eBay or is now a very quiet time of year? Would mainly be kids toys, books, jigsaws & clothes. Would you bother or wait until later in the year?

Not a heck of a lot!
Cold weather clothing, skiing and winter sports stuff.
You could get listings scheduled, list only during free listing periods (check Ebay announcements each Friday evening). And put a start price which is the true minimum you'd be happy to accept.

Everyone's after a bargain at this time of year and they are poor post chrimbo, so you may not get much.

If you can wait till spring that would be better and if you really wait, then before next christmas is good for toys.
Books don't tend to sell well at any time of year as they are costly to send, unless they are rare/specialist books.

You might get away with some newer branded stuff e.g. little Johnnie wanted x toy but didn't get it off Santa so I'll have a look on eBay, but very little otherwise.

Oh, and New Year's Resolution things, I reckon. LIke healthy lifestyle or diet books and some exercise equipment. I have 3 watchers on a sewing machine foot that had no watchers before Christmas: I reckon that's a NY resolution to "get back into my sewing" type thing.

I've sold a t-shirt for twice what I wanted for it and a pram for £150. I've also got bids on some make-up.
I always use free listing and put what I would be happy to get and anything on top is a bonus.
You have nothing to lose when it's free listing, if it doesn't sell it costs you nothing and you can always re-list in next free listing.
So go for it.

I do that too Trevor, there seems to be at least one free listing weekend each month. in the meantime I sell off the 99p tat, some of which does really well, the rest goes to charity shop after 3 listings. This week thought I was doing really well sold 5 items and so far only one has been paid for. never had to open an unpaid item case but suspect I may be about to! Most annoyed as really need the money now to fund my sale shopping at Zara and boden.
