Ok so I managed to sell my travel system and the buyer paid via PayPal before I even realised it had sold.

Now the buyer is saying she didn't realise it was collect only and cannot get here. She says all courier quotes are £75 plus and she cannot afford it.

Please can anyone recommend any cheap couriers. The item needs to go from Surrey to the Isle of Wight.

Thanks

it's not YOUR problem to sort out a courier!

was there anyone else bidding that you could offer second chance too after refunding first buyer?

AngelNanny · 14/12/2012 13:23

Unfortunately the buyer skipped the auction and took the buy it now price on offer and there were no bids at the time as it was quite soon after i listed the item.
I cannot really afford to refund the buyer if I am honest. I spent the money on Christmas as she didn't get in touch for a week despite me asking when she would like to collect.

I was wondering about couriers because I thought there may be one for cheaper than £75 that I could recommend to her.

Thanks for you reply Rudolph.

Try collect plus.

fergoose · 14/12/2012 13:29

do not let the buyer arrange their own courier - or i they do it is cash only, not paypal.

AngelNanny · 14/12/2012 13:53

Thank you for the advice fergoose.

Also I will try collect plus, thank you for that suggestion.

There's a code to get 10% off for first time users with myHermes, RAQN64EIWKCN.

LineRunner · 14/12/2012 14:11

Is the buyer going to PayPal you the money as a gift to pay for the courier?

AngelNanny · 14/12/2012 15:20

Thanks for all your help so far but collect plus and my Hermes are out of the question as the item is heavier than 15kg.

Does anyone know any couriers who take parcels that weigh more than 15kg?

Many thanks

I got some quotes for shipping an antique chair 120 miles the other day & they got down to £42. It was a website where the couriers bid to transport the item you've described.

But to be honest I would refund her money & move to cancel the transaction (you can only offer to cancel once, so try to get her agreement, first).

Parcel Monkey?

lljkk · 14/12/2012 15:28

Can't believe someone suggested Collectplus to you, the largest they transport is still only up to 50cm long (x30x30), does any travel system get down that small?.

LineRunner · 14/12/2012 17:04

Actually I think myHermes has a size limit, too - you need to check the dimensions on the couriers' web sites.

IwishyouaMerryChristmas · 14/12/2012 20:57

Can you split it into smaller parcels that each weigh less than 15kgs?

meala · 14/12/2012 21:03

I used senditnow to send a small childs bike. It is Parcel force under a different name but they were quite reasonable and quick.

AngelNanny · 15/12/2012 11:34

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I'm going to find out measurements and exact weight today and see what prices I get from the couriers suggested.

parcel2go

sarahtigh · 16/12/2012 16:21

will take upto 32kg will need to add more for insurance probably about £25 plus
add about 1.50 for packing as you will need to wrap it

though if she requests from ebay you will have to refund her get in touch and ask her if she want to pay for courier or cancel,

do not let her arrange courier though if she lives on isle of man she might know local courier that often goes to island which of she recommends maybe cheaper

collectplus is not the cheapest over 6kg use parcel2go or even at a push parcelforce which maybe £30 ish

Here you go:

Anyvan.com

The drivers bid to move your unusual cargo, will do jobs no one else can.

AngelNanny · 16/12/2012 23:04

Thank you so much to everyone for your help and speedy responses. I have now finally sorted it all out and the buyer seems very pleased and I'm glad to be finally getting rid of the travel system as we have no space and its even worse with Christmas coming! Smile Thanks again!
