Taking a BIN offer?

Hello, I have just received an email asking whether I would take a BiN price for an item listed yesterday. I've suggested he name his price but somebody else has already bid on the item - could I even do this if I wanted to? Would you do it or is it a stupid idea?

no. Def not. If you have a bid so soon in the sale then it means your item will be popular and you will get a good price. They are just trying to entice you to sell quickly. Have you many watchers?

I think you can add a BIN but it has to be 40% over the auction start pruce.

Not sure if you can do it if there's a bid been place though, I'd doubt it.

you can cancel a bid and add a buy it now price. Is up to you. One bidder doesn't automatically mean you will get lots of bids and interest. Nor does it mean they are trying to entice you with anything. They may just want the item.

Well, you can withdraw your item as 'no longer for sale' but the only times I have been approached for BIN is when the item has gone for an awful lot of money. Much more than the person giving me the offer. It would be sensible in this case to say that there is a bid on the item, and you would rather let the auction run its course. If they still want it they will bid in.

If you withdraw your item as no longer for sale that is an off ebay sale which is not permitted

Bigbad - if you want to sell to the bidder you can, it is up to you and of course if they offer you the right price.

I don't see why it would be sensible in this case to let the auction run its course - ignore that. Someone asking for a buy it now isn't always a scammer or looking to rip you off.

Well I will wait and see what he is prepared to pay then decide. It is most uninteresting: bath taps! But ludicrously expensive ones that b and q sold us (bastards) knowing we didn't have a pressurised system when it needs one to work. I've listed low so it will be a real bargain for somebody and stop me swearing every time I see the bloody thing in my garage!

He's not prepared to offer a price, he wants me to name it. So I've told him I am going to wait and let it run.
