I bought an ipod on Ebay for DD (Christmas) - it arrived with one very feeble layer of bubblewrap in a jiffy bag and is very firmly not working. I've tried charging it every which way, re-setting it - nothing. The best it shows is an error message which I've googled - Apple say likely hard drive problems.

Seller says it was working fine and they will refund, but not for another fortnight as they're away. I'm a bit pissed off at this tbh - surely you can access paypal if you can access emails? - and a bit worried about it all going on so long.

Should I open a case with Ebay? Or do nothing for the fortnight?

I would NOT return it until you're told to.

Blimey we need fergoose, we're all flapping like geese here :o

I would email and ask for a return address. I wouldn't send it right now as they did say they were away - if this is the case it could get stuck in a sorting office and/or set back to you.

I would also check to see if they have put a security mark on it - do people usually do this with a UV pen or something?

ebay will tell you when to return it, and where to - as long as you send it tracked and you can prove delivery (or attempted delivery) then they will refund.

If sending recorded make sure you write on the parcel 'please obtain signature' or suchlike
