Charging for postage

I've worked out that I'm losing too much money by offering free postage on low value items, partly because both Ebay and Paypal take a cut of the price, but I think Ebay, at least, don't take a bite out of postage charges.

Would I be better off raising the price of items slightly and still offering them as free P&P, or keeping the price the same and adding on a postage charge?

(BTW these are items that I make, so it's kind of up to me what I charge...)

I would charge postage, if you make them you can weigh them, and add note that you only charge exact cost of postage and nothing for packing ( obviously this has to be true)

ebay only take 10% of purchase price paypal take 3.4% of total bill plus 20p per transaction so if someone buys 4 items only 1 x 20p it is 3.9% if diffent currency
