How do I go about selling handbags?

Advice please, wise eBaying folk of MN.

My Mum wants to offload two old handbags, a good brand, one excellent condition as she only used it all of 3 times and one good condition. They should fetch a fair price and help pay for Christmas.

But I've been a bit scared seeing some of the posts on here where you folk have sold banded items and then been accused of selling fakes, with eBay then backing the buyer in the dispute.

So what I'm really after please, is advice on if there's any way to stop that happening to me if I list the items. Can I list them as "No refunds no matter what?"

Hi Annie, No, sadly you can't list as No Refunds No Matter What!

As far as I can work out, there are three ways for a buyer to get a refund, even from an honest seller: ebay case; a PayPal case; and a chargeback on a bank or credit card.

And as far as I can work out, the honest private seller has little redress when it comes to being accused of selling a fake. I mean, you can take masses of photos, mark it with Smart Water, video yourself packing and posting the item Special Delivery, waving it off, and all the rest; but there will always be a scammer out there who knows all the tricks of getting refunds, has a new ebay account and who will leg it with the full refund and the nice item for free.

You could try collection only for cash.

I would never sell anything really valuable on ebay. I would go via a specialist shop or seller.

I wouldn't sell anything designer on ebay either. I'm having a pre-Xmas clear out and am going to you gumtree and preloved. Cash on collection or cheque if they want stuff posting. I know I'm honest and a good seller but I can't bear being so vulnerable to scammers so I am going to try elsewhere but accept it might take a lot longer to sell but I won't be paying fees so I can live with that.

Oh dear. Thanks for the advice. I may try Gumtree, and I'll have a look at Preloved too.
