Posting a pair of walking boots, Royal Mail or is there a cheaper way?

I usually just use the PO for postage but have been wondering if there's a cheaper way? These boots are fairly heavy. TIA

I am quite a fan I must admit and so much better than waiting in for a courier to collect or queuing for hours in a post office.
