Empty envelope

We bought a hard drive at the weekend and today a recorded delivery envelope arrived today, but it had been partially opened and was empty.

Unfortunately I didn't sign for it, my husband's colleague did. There was no sender address so we are not 100% it is the eBay item.

I went to the post office and we can do nothing, the sender has to complain.

We have email the seller and are hoping he/she can claim from Royal Mail and refund us something.

Any experience?

if no joy open a not as described case with ebay - and keep hold of the envelope in case you need it for evidence.
