Just had first complaint

From a lady claiming top i sent was covered in stains which I'm sure it wasn't. I've asked her to send photos of stains and said I'll issue full refund if she does or said she can return it to me.

I do check clothes carefully and point out flaws but it COULD have slipped through the net without me realising so giving benefit of doubt but I've got photos and can't find any stains

You've done the right thing by asking her to send you photos. I'd wait for her to do that and then take it from there.

If I have ever sold anything with a fault or problem that I hadn't noticed (which is only twice so far) I offered the buyer a partial refund if they were happy to keep the item. This si because I would have given them a full refund plus the cost of the return postage as it was my error, therefore both times it worked out better for me to give a partial refund otherwise I would have been out of pocket because of the postage. But I know quite a lot of ebay sellers won't give a partial refund due to some buyers taking the piss and just asking for one for the sake of getting the item a bit cheaper.

She says she wants to return the top as its in such a disgusting state she does not even want it in the same house as her!

I'm 99% certain it was unstained and clean and I'm wondering if she's actually planning to return a different top though it seems a very odd thing to do over £2.80 plus postage. I'm mystified as I would not sell something in the condition she describes (covered in stains front and back and with mould on it).

I'm just not interested in getting embroiled in a dispute over a relatively small sum so have refunded her and told her to keep it to do what she ikes with it and not got a message:

"its not even fit for my bin, I will post it back to you at your expense and you can bin it if you think it won't contaminate your home"

I'm actually a bit upset about this :( I've heard there are mad people on ebay but this is beyond a joke surely?

There are all sorts on there. I have had one today mail me a month after posting the item saying it gasn't arrived. This buyer i had to raiise a case as they didn't pay for 3 weeks and no contact.
I haven't sent recorded so can't prove it but would bet my life they have it. But i shall have to refund

Ignore, or if you can't let it go, report her to eBay. Sounds as though she has bigger issues.

Some people are just odd. Fortunately many are nice. I'd be near naked, not an attractive site, without second hand clothes from the charity and eBay. It's not just the money generation it's great for things to get reused.

I had a nutty one this week who gave negative feedback for poor comms as apparently three emails in six days wasn't enough for him. Just do what you need to, to get her out of your life!

I had a nut job very similar to yours, OP. PM me the name? We can compare notes. I am still bitter that ebaY refused to step in, as she was totally OTT on the (false) criticisms, her manner of communication and eventual loony-tunes feedback.

People like her are ruining ebaY. It is becoming too stressful for good, honest private sellers.

I agree wholeheartedly, Linerunner. It was the same on Wikipedia. They recently emailed a lot of academics to find out why we weren't editing articles in our specialist areas, and invariably people responded that they weren't going to put in the effort if some nut job could come along five minutes later, delete the specialist facts that had been carefully and thoughtfully added, and add their own pet hobbyhorses.

If organisations don't keep an eye on this sort of thing, the quality diminishes to the point where the thing becomes useless.

I washed it at 40 degrees in fairy non bio before i sent it. I'm sure I'd have noticed mould and stains

She's probably got another account for selling vintage but will let you know if she does try reselling it

no I think you need to wait for a reply to that one - maybe you will be inspired at 3am with something pithy and witty - mind you is she really worth it. Prob best to leave it and hope she goes away.

Oh this is why I can hardly be arsed to sell on ebay anymore. I have a pile of monsoon boys tops waiting to be flogged - most in excellent condition, but the thought of going to effort to list and post and then have some nutter hassling me is making me very meh about it.

This may sound a bit cruel and it's not meant to be, but the messages I got from my Problem Buyer were sent at night and she sounded quite drunk tbh. She denied receiving a number of polite messages asking what refund arrangement she would like, and just kept banging on about imaginary defects and calling me a liar.

Either that or a scripted scam, to panic an honest 'mum-seller' into giving a refund as well as the clothes. I've just looked at the feedback she's left recently and it's not just me who has been left .

EbaY were/are useless when I alerted them.

Saintly, if you were giving those tops to charity, rather than EBay I always think of the local women's refuge. Some mothers & children have to flee without taking anything with them , they would appreciate them. I wouldn't know how you could find your local one though?

You can google your local refuge, and phone them, and if you have a box of things that they need they will arrange to come and collect them. Sometimes there may be an agreeable drop-off point, like at a council office. I've got a lot of children's bedding I'm hoping to donate like this.
