how long should i wait for an answer re combined postage?

As above really!

I won two items just after 9 yesterday morning (a pair of baby trousers and a grobag), and realised afterwards that they were the same seller. I immediately messaged the seller to ask if they would consider combining the postage (as its currently 2.70 and 3.20 respectively), but have yet to receive a response.

TBH I don't mind paying the full postage for each item, but if I can save a few pence, it's worth asking.

Obviously I haven't paid for the items yet - how long is it reasonable for me to wait for a response, after which point I'll just send the full payment for both if I haven't had one. I don't want to piss the seller off (if I haven't already that is!), and I really do want the two items...

Does this make sense? Sorry, brain a bit addled from newborn sleep deprivation!

I think terms and conditions say about 2-3 days for responses, don't worry just yet, I can't see why the buyer wouldn't do combined postage as if eh are being sent recorded it will probably cst about £3.15 so it's not as if the are akin huge amount son the postage :). Give it another 24 hours?

LineRunner · 02/10/2012 18:25

I would send a message on eBay, and also send an email.

You should have four days to pay, anyway.

Sometimes private sellers do take a couple of days to respond, when real life gets in the way. Like you say, the seller doesn't have to combine P&P, but I always do if I can because it's fair and it is more likely to elicit nice comments!

if they charge full amount it should come as 2 parcels

Benaberry · 03/10/2012 19:07

Thank you all

I still haven't heard anything so have paid, will see what happens when items arrive, whether packaged separately and how much it cost (as have a nagging feeling postage is a bit high on the trousers)

Hmmm

Oh, and for what it's worth, according to listings, items are being sent 2nd class standard

Wow, my second recorded is £3.20! Must look into that again!

sarahtigh · 04/10/2012 15:54

a signed for second class packet costs £3.15 (0-750g)

Quick update. Items arrived this morning, in one parcel. Postage for the two together was £2.20, and they were just in a grey bag, which I think I've seen from discussions on here are pretty cheap. Tbh, this has left me feeling a bit annoyed- first the lack of response, then the fact that I've paid £5.90 postage for when I don't think it's cost much more than £2.50 to send.

Not sure what I should do really. I do like the items, and I know I bid and paid for them knowing the postage, but this has just left me with a bit of a funny feeling. Over £3 to me seems a lot to overcharge by...

email the seller and ask for a partial refund - tell them they should have put them in 2 separate parcels and they have broken the rules

BlueberryHill · 08/10/2012 16:44

God that is profiteering, when someone won two items from me I contacted her first to say that I would amend the postage. I also refund postage if I send it as a letter but I quoted for a package, so they get about £1 back.

Polishes halo.

Oh, leave appropriate feedback if there is no partial refund.

Benaberry · 08/10/2012 17:29

Thanks Fergoose, Blueberry. Do I just contact them through the "send seller a message" function in the listing and say what you've said? Not had to dispute anything before!

Have you checked your Paypal account to make sure she hasn't already refunded some of the postage?

I had a buyer from the states who paid double the postage. I refunded one lot but didn't email her to tell her and she left me a snotty feedback and low stars. I was furious. Paypal say they email the buyer when you refund, but I have my doubts! I now always email the buyer when I do a refund.

fergoose · 08/10/2012 17:57

yes contact the seller via the listing

fergoose · 08/10/2012 18:12

also if you have 2 negs to leave - do so 8 days apart, they will count as 2 then - do them in the same week for the same seller they only count as 1.

tanfastic · 08/10/2012 18:16

Do check Paypal first. Someone bought two items off me last week and paid straight away. I never contacted her but just have her a partial refund through Paypal.

tanfastic · 08/10/2012 18:16

Gave

Benaberry · 08/10/2012 20:26

Double checked PayPal - nothing received at all. Will contact the seller and see what happens, will hold off leaving feedback until I hear back from them (and bear in mind what you've said fergoose about leaving them 8 days apart).
