PayPal - why did money come out of my bank?

Hi - I have linked my PP account to my bank account. I recently paid for something online using PP but expected the money to come out of my PP funds - instead it came out of my bank. Is there a way to use the funds you have in PP to pay for things?

I thought it took it from PP funds first and then took the balance from your bank (or card)

Yes, it should use paypal funds first and then bank second. Are the funds there when you log into paypal?

Yes I have nearly £100 in pp....just wondered if there was a box to tick that would use those funds instead of taking from my bank account

not as far as I am aware - normally the paypal funds are used first, unless that has changed.
