We spent around 3 hours, yesterday mostly speaking to Ebay staff in Manilla, Phillipines and the debt collectors, Newman.
This relates to my child, who was 12 at the time, bidding for what she thought PS3 console. What arrived turned out to be an empty PS3 box only with instructions. She decided to sell it on, stating it was a PS3 box and some poor person bid, as I understand it, from the debt collectors, 100 British pounds. I did not want someone to be ripped off, or have a brick through my window or be assaulted, so I threw the box away. The next thing I knew was that my daughter received a debt collector's letter, looking for 19.27 GBP in sellers' fees. My daughter never received these sellers' fees because Paypal would not accept her and her debit card details were declined by Ebay.
I think Ebay should do proper checks to make sure old and young are not "ripped off" for empty boxes.
