moved house...item sent to old address..not sure who is responsible?

Hi, I need some advice!
I recently moved house and changed my registered Paypal and eBay addresses. For some reason, when I buy an item sometimes, not always, the address coming up on the invoice is still my old address. I have deleted the old address completely and gone back and forth making sure I have done this correctly. However, the old address just seems to 'stick'.

I ordered an item, and in the Message to Seller box I explained the problem with my address and supplied the new address, clearly requesting the item be sent here. The item was due to be delivered on 10th September, when it didn't arrive, I contacted the seller.....the item has been sent to the old address. I have no way of contacting the new occupants. The seller has said they will advise me if the item is returned to them.

What shall I do now? Who's responsibility is it? I wondered if I could open a case, on the grounds that I supplied the correct address?
TIA

But do you know that you did? Have you deleted your old addresses or just added another address to the list? If you knew you were having this problem, and the seller won't have magicked your address from thin air, I doubt you can open a case on this basis, because it looks like you didn't provide the right address. You could have messaged the seller to say that this happenns, and confirmed your correct address, or deleted your old addresses, but didn't.

Ah, ok, I take back the bit about not supplying the correct address. Duh read the blasted 2nd paragraph before replying.

The OP said she did message the seller though didn't she?

I did delete the old address, and yes I did message the seller to explain the problem I was having, actually on the invoice.
I had bought several items, from different sellers all in the last week, some invoices the address was my new one, some the old one, I messaged the sellers with the wrong address and all sent to new address except this particular one.

trouble is if the seller was given the old wrong address by paypal they would have had to send to that address to be covered by seller protection. they can't send to a 'new' address you give them in a message as if they do they are not covered.

I think you should phone paypal as it would seem they still have your old address and it hasn't been deleted.

Of course you have a way of contacting the new occupants of your old address. You can write to them or maybe ring them as the phone numbers often stay the same.

Don't sellers have to send to the registered addresses? Your account could have been hijacked.

fergoose · 17/09/2012 20:47

Yes, sellers have to send to the address which paypal give them.

Can you call around at your old address?
