Why do ebay assume I am selling a fake? and REMOVE my listing! How can I sort this out?

Am very reluctantly selling a high value designer item (a handbag). I listed it last night and within 2 hours Ebay had removed the listing, saying along the lines of they think its fake. I am fuming! It is not a fake and I clearly state on my ad that I have all the relevant documentation that proves it is genuine, and put pictures of the said documentation on my ad, I really can't do anymore to prove it.

Yet there are several other items similar to mine, which have been "allowed" to remain Confused

Not sure what to do, but I badly need to sell this item, I need the money sadly as had some bad news work-wise yesterday :(

Have you contacted eBay help to see if they can advise why it was removed?

Have you sold much on eBay before?

LaurieFairyCake · 31/08/2012 08:18

It must be because they have a longer selling history.

LineRunner · 31/08/2012 14:20

Sounds like a competitor might have reported it, which would be petty. I would contact Customer Service and argue your case and offer to email them detailed pictures of your documentation.

How's your account status and selling history?

I would also think about trying to sell it via Facebook, Gumtree, Ebid, number 2 aution site, ETSY etc. Ebay aren't the only game in town - although of course the 'traffic' is high.

Oh this really is complete bullshit now, I re listed it and the same thing happened. So I rang Ebay customer services and they have told me that I need to contact Chanel (the bag is a Chanel) and, apparently, Chanel then need to contact Ebay to verify that my bag is real Hmm I can't even find a UK contact number / email for Chanel...the nearest Chanel shop to me is in france!

That will take forever and I need it gone asap ffs. I had dozens of watchers wihin minutes of listing, I know it would sell as I am letting it go for probably less than its worth.

My ebay history is 100% excellent but I only have a rating of about 70, and approximately half of that is from buying rather than selling, not sure whether that makes a difference?

Thanks for the advice, will try the other sites as well, see what happens.

70 feedbacks is fine! I would say that your short time on ebay shows just what a huge interest there is in a really good Chanel bag, so please don't underprice yourself.

Thanks linerunner

It has really annoyed me, I am an honest, genuine person, who has always bought and sold honestly and Ebay have made plenty of money off me, and now they are making me feel like some kind of criminal, I am sad to be even in the position to have to sell the bag anyway :(

I just don't understand why other sellers similar bags are allowed to remain, they may be fakes for all I or Ebay know.

Tough asoldboots, where is the purse forum, is that on the Ebay community forums? Or is that something separate from Ebay?

What kind of Chanel Bag is it out of Interest?

WoodlandHills · 01/09/2012 11:35

Its a medium classic flap, like, rectangular shaped, I don't know the name / "model" of it exactly Blush I was given it as a present.

Have a look at completed auctions on ebay. That will tell you how much the handbag is worth.

KateSpade · 05/09/2012 22:08

Yes Please!

This happened to me when I listed a child's Timberland T shirt!

wellwisher · 09/09/2012 13:55

You need to do a bit more research if you're going to get a decent price for something like that! At least go on Chanel's website to find out exactly what the design is called.

Are you in the UK? There's a Chanel store in London.

mirpuppet · 09/09/2012 17:26

If the bag is of high value it might be worth getting a bag reseller to sell it for you as they will get a higher price. Look on the purseforum.com and people will be able to give info a selling a designer bag.

Pinot · 09/09/2012 19:00

Surely the documentation that came with it would detail the design number and details?? My Burberry came with all manner of documentation and I would assume all genuine designer items are the same.

Sorry but that sounds alarm bells to me. And an amazing gift - Chanel bags are near four figures.

SaraBellumHertz · 09/09/2012 19:08

I don't have a Chanel but I do have a several mulberry s and a couple of jimmy choos along with a Chloe a Marc Jacobs and a burberry. Other than the receipt and a sort of fact/care card none of them came with paperwork and they were purchased direct from the jimmy choo/mulberry etc store and net a porter.

I don't know what sort of paperwork you can be expected to have. I have heard good things about the purse forum so would check that out.

If its a 2.55 I'd be interested.....
