Sudden outbreak of stupid buyers even though I have revised the listing, grr!

I'm selling an ebook. I always stated in the description that it was an ebook, sold 30 or more with no problems, all of a sudden I am getting whiny buyers going 'But I thought it was a paperback.' So I have revised the listing to put in big flashing letters at the top of the item description this is an EBOOK! Not a paperback! and am getting twice the amount of whiny buyers.
What's the matter with the silly sods?

There's no helping thick people. Fact.

Ponders · 25/08/2012 18:37

what is an ebook?

It's a file that I email to them, they can then read it on their phones/Kindles/computers, even. I wrote the book so it's mine to do as I like with (in case anyone is going to start...). I do sell actual paperbacks as well, and have even listed this particular title separately as a paperback, but unfortunately I have to charge a lot more as I don't have copies in stock and do it POD.

ebooks aren't permitted if they are sent digitally, you can only sell an ebook if you post it on a CD.

solidgoldbrass · 25/08/2012 19:13

Why is that? It seems a bit daft to me.

no idea - maybe because they want proof of delivery of a tangible item.

Ah. I have been selling it for over 30 days as an email., should I cross my fingers and carry on, or should I amend the listing to state it will be sent on a CD to buyers? And if I do that, will I be able to get away with upping the price a little to cover postage costs?

Although, as fergoose says, ebooks should be delivered by post and not electronically. I do feel your pain with daft buyers.

I had one this week enquire about some socks I was selling:
Buyer "I am trying to buy the red socks on your listing but Ebay won't let me - can you help?"
Me "Unfortunately as the listing menu states, the red ones are sold out now, only the blue or green colours are available"
Buyer " Ok thanks. If I buy a blue or green pair can you send me the red ones instead?"
Me Confused Bangs head against brick wall and blocks buyer.

fergoose · 25/08/2012 19:41

Well the risk is if someone reports you then listings will be ended.

You could up the price for P&P costs certainly.

Ponders · 25/08/2012 19:42

thanks, SGB

I do struggle with this new-fangled technology stuff Confused
