Bid on something, won it, have tried to pay but paypal says seller's account is unable to accept payments.

I contacted the seller who said just to pay through paypal and give the ebay item number in a message.

Yes or no?

(And if no, what do I do now?)

if you log into paypal itself and select send money you can add the eBay item number there and it should tie in with the item I think?

But do I want to? Can he just chase me through ebay saying I haven't paid, if I go direct to Paypal?

If you paste in the eBay item number on the Paypal payment transaction it should tie in - but he really should sort out his paypal - why isn't it accepting payments, sounds a bit odd? You should be able to pay him direct from the listing.

If you don't want to complete than ask him to cancel the transaction, otherwise he could file a non payment strike against you.
