Arrrgh - Malicious Auction Wrecking Bidders

I have been an ebay seller for 8 years and have never had many problems with NPBs, until last year I can count on one hand how many divvys haven't paid but recently I have noticed that every time I list something I get bids on the last day of selling from bidders who have joined the same day, won the item and then not paid despite reminders and no further contact whatsoever.

I looked back over the details of the NPBs and realised that all of the addresses are for hotels - in Birmingham, Canada, Greece, Centre Parcs etc so I think I can safely say that someone is maliciously wrecking my auctions and to be honest I have a fair idea who it is.

So today I noticed a bid on one of my items from a zero rater so I looked at their status and they had opened the account in 2007 in Ireland - they had not contacted me to request a postage price so it made me a bit suspect. I don't know if I was right to do it but I cancelled the bid - something I have never done before but I am starting to get really pissed off as it costs me time and money.

So what I'm really asking is am I within my rights to deline a buyer if I suspect they are knobbers who are bidding with no intention to buy.

I'm sure someone (fergoose Grin) will know the answer

add them to your blocked bidder list and that will cancel their bids - and all the NPBs add them here too

Is there a disgruntled seller you have left a neg for or maybe a rival seller who could be doing this. Could you block foreign bidders too?

PatFenis · 21/08/2012 23:37

Its a rival seller fergoose - I have never negged anyone and I am happy to sell to foreign bidders if they are happy for me to send international signed for.

I am just getting hacked off with it - if it is who I think it is, she is shill biding on all her items too ...greedy cow! but I haven't reported because she will just open another account - at least I can see what she is up to iyswim

I think you should report her for the shill bidding and the auction wrecking - and comfort yourself that she clearly can't be making much money if she has so much time on her hands to cause you such strife.

How long has it been going on for - have they contacted you in the past to make you suspicious.

Thanks fergoose, I see this person most weeks and I think she knows that I know what she is up to because she has stopped engaging with me and seems very shifty - I actually gave her advice about how to list and when to list to maximise sales but I think it backfired for me big style :(

well I think you should get reporting to be honest - why protect her when she is maliciously destroying your auctions and costing you money to relist stuff.

I think it is possible to restrict bidders who have a feedback score of 0.

PatFenis · 25/08/2012 21:11

I have set my preferences to the highest I can on ebay but the cheeky sods are still managing to bid on my items so I have to block them manually by putting suspect ids on my blocked bidder list

Don't have a PayPal account

Have received 2 unpaid item(s) recorded on their account within 12 month(s)

Have 4 policy breaches reported within 6 month(s)

Have a Feedback score of -1 or lower

Have a Feedback score of 0 or lower and no credit card on file

Are currently winning or have bought 1 of my items in the last 10 days and have a Feedback score of 0 or lower

if you are a big seller, give ebay a call as they will block her from setting up new paypal accounts .....
