Unclaimed funds?

I was the highest bidder on an item on the 15th August,I had left a cheeky low bid on £8ish as I was going to be away that evening, the postage was really high, £9.96, which I think put other bidders off, as normally for these same items it between £3/£6, so I expect most people didn't mark the item in watched, brand new the other items I have bought that are nearly the same are all about £25 plus,so even with the odd high postage, I will get a good deal,

I paid with paypal the following day 16th august, delivery on the original item is stated as 2 to 3 working days,

Anyway, the seller has yet to claim the money, so presumable hasn't sent the item.

What do I do?

thanks in advance, (I'm on standby so may have to cut and run)

Unclaimed funds generally mean the PayPal address you sent the money too is incorrect. For example, [email protected] instead of .co.uk.
You need to cancel the transaction and ask seller to inform you of the correct address.
Might be best to contact seller before you do anything. I have had this a few times!

gosh you were fast, thanks, off to message the seller.

And the high postage will be due to the fact they wont pay eBay fees on that. Just the cost of what the item sold for!
So they pay fees on the £8 yOu bid not the £9.96 postage!

you can ask the seller to add the wrong email address to their paypal account - then you will not need to cancel anything and they will get the money straight away.

Haylebop12 · 17/08/2012 15:59

Oh I didn't know that, maybe the sellers I had it with we're inexperienced and unsure how to solve it!

quoteunquote · 17/08/2012 16:09

Oh, now I've managed to cancel the payment, but now have to work out how to do the new payment,

HELP,

I have the new email address, item number and amount, where on and which site do I put it?

I'm just not very good at this.

Log onto PayPal, go to send money and type in details.

fergoose · 17/08/2012 16:12

the seller could have just added the email address - if you make a manual payment via paypal to the alternative email address it will not tie in with the eBay item.

quoteunquote · 17/08/2012 16:24

I had an option of going through the ebay till when I paid for the item, I took it and it tied in with the item, so hopefully that has worked,

thanks for all the help.

yep thats right :) hope it all work out!

this is odd,

I've now tried to send the money to the seller four times,

each time it is unclaimed,

he is suggesting I click goods instead of ebay, would that take me out of ebay safety net? and why would the address work that way and not through the ebay route?

I keep adding the address that he has asked me to use, which is the same as the one that doesn't work , except that it has .com at the end instead of .co.uk, but then when it shows up on the paypal payments as co.uk, is that what is meant to happen?

so experts what do I do now ?sorry to be a pain,

I've got guest arriving in a mo, and I'm away for lots of this weekend, so I will pop in out if i can,

thanks

I presume it is still the wrong email address - you will have to tell the seller to add that wrong email address to his paypal account then he will be able to accept it
