to all you ebayers - don't make the same mistake I did!

I bought what was listed and pictured as a maclaren techno rain cover from babytravel on ebay - when delivered turned out to be a generic stroller cover Sad I'd spent AGES looking for the real thing at a decent price!
I returned item using not as described, they refunded but not my return postage (special delivery) costs Angry
THEN I found as the transaction had been cancelled I couldn't leave any feedback at all - so my threat of neg feedback had no weight, and my repeated requests for refund went unanswered...

Buyers beware, indeed!

open a dispute with ebay, they'll get your costs back ...

You should still have been able to leave feedback for a cancelled transaction unless it was past the 60 day limit.

The only reason I know of for buyers not being able to leave feedback is when an unpaid item case has been opened by the seller and subsequently closed with no payment.

As for the refund issue, sellers are not compelled to refund return postage, however a good seller will do so. If they have refunded your original payment in full then that is all they are obliged to do.

If you are still within the 60 day limit for feedback it may be worth giving Ebay Customer Services a call and asking why you are unable to do so.

Why did you return special delivery - surely recorded would have been sufficient?

And I guess you ignored the request to cancel the transaction so it closed and now you can't leave feedback - you could have refused the cancellation and prevented this

Thanks ladies Thanks - all good advice but it was around 6 months ago when I was getting ready for baby's arrival, and TBH I couldn't be bothered with a battle - I deleted all the emails to stop getting annoyed - you have to chose your battles eh? Anyway, it was only about £3 so perhaps it was recorded, not special, delivery.

I suppose the point I wanted to make was that they clearly only stock GENERIC covers, despite appearing to have the particular covers for LOADS of different designs of strollers, prams, car seats etc. They (IMHO) are taking advantage of us harassed mums...Angry I don't want anyone else to be ripped off disappointed.

IF I had been a seasoned MN user at the time, I would not have let them get away with it!! Hmm
