Problem with PayPal and chargebacks (I'm the buyer)

Sorry, this isn't really an eBay query but I figured regular ebayers would be knowledgable about PayPal.

I recently bought some products from a website and paid via PayPal. I've shopped on this website several times this way without any problems.

About a week later, the company contacted me to ask why I had initiated a chargeback. I hadn't! Contacted PayPal who said my bank had initiated it. So I then contacted my bank who said they know nothing about it and suggested I contact PayPal to ask for evidence of it.

PayPal just keep telling me to contact my bank. I have no idea where my funds are - neither the company or I have the money.

Does anyone have any experience of this or any wise words on how to resolve it?

Hi don't think I can help but I am experiencing something similar. I recently sold an item on eBay and the buyer paid so I posted promptly. The payment is now held on the instruction of the buyers bank but I have had no communication from the buyer and she has not raised a dispute within eBay. Not sure how to go about sorting this as I obviously can't communicate with her bank so would be interested to know if you ever get this resolved.

Annieshaf - PayPal never notified me about the chargeback, so if the company hadn't got in touch then I wouldn't have known anything about it. Have you been in touch with your buyer to make sure they know about it? Hope you get it sorted.
