Been watching an item on buy it now for a while now. I am very keen but wondering whether it's foolish to take the risk on this new seller. Any tips welcome.

Everyone has to start at some point. I have bought from new sellers in the past and never had a problem.

If you win the item, pay via PayPal and should there be any problems you will get your money back.

agree with sky. I wouldnt buy something very expensive, but it wuldnt worry me to buy from a zero feedback. excuse typos am in bed flat on my back!

I wouldn't buy anything expensive but agree that everyone has to start somewhere.

One of my best eBay bargains was from a seller with 0 ratings - it was a Coast dress that sold for about £6 as I'm guessing people were put off by the lack of experience. It ended up being a great buy, quick postage, well wrapped etc. Go for it!

Or ensure the item can be collected - have a lovely chest of drawers from a first time seller who made the mistake of finishing the auction on a Friday night. She'd already realised that.

Beware of often-faked or stolen stuff like phones, but lots of people join Ebay to sell bulky stuff.
