Collection of sold item - no answer from buyer

Auction ended three days ago - listed as collection only, collection within 5 days of auction end. Buyer paid yesterday by paypal but has not answered two emails asking when this week they'd like to collect - collection was supposed to be by end Friday.

I've since noticed that the winning bidder was someone who emailed me asking me if I'd post - I replied saying I didn't have the materials (big item) but if it didn't sell I may re-list with postage if I could figure out a way.

It did sell - to them Hmm. I need it gone (housemove) and I don't want to post, I'd rather keep it or give it away for the hassle of trying to pack it safely.

If I've said five days and they don't collect - what can I do? If I just refund they can leave ME shitty feedback and I'm landed with the fees, yes?

Yes refund them now - and then ask them to collect with cash or you will cancel the sale.

Gah. Just got an email, they want to send a courier.
I specified collection only -surely that means collection in person? I can't be waiting in for couriers.
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I've just emailed, if I was able to pack it, I would have posted it
Hopefully they'll agree to cancel.

no - they can't send a courier - you will have no seller protection as you will not have tracking info. Not to mention the cost of packaging the item and waiting for the courier.

Refund their payment now and send a cancellation request

Have emailed saying same, I will leave it an hour then do as you advise.
Thank you!

They replied saying they were going to ring round for quotes for a man with a van (this one day before collection deadline and they're a good few hours away) and if I wasn't happy then they supposed a refund was the only option.

So I refunded and sent a cancellation notice with a note - as per emails, hope you find something similar etc etc. All polite. Saying that a man with a van won't work either - still need packing and no cash.

They're not accepting the cancellation and sent a very upset email saying they had been asking a friend to collect and are very disappointed etc. And that I shouldn't say I won't do couriers because of tracking info because that's not right Hmm.

I've written a reply saying that I was acting as per their earlier email and that I can't be expected to know that they had changed their plans. But I suspect they want a ruck - technically they had until today to collect but their email doesn't ask if they still can or for details.

What happens if they won't agree to cancel? Their money is refunded. Should I send the reply email or just ignore?

This is why I don't do collections

Ah. Just sent the email by mistake - so I guess that's answered!

So what happens if they just don't cancel?

Ohh buggery bolleaux.

Fergoose is the ebay guru - I'm useless but adding support. And chocolate.

If they ignore the cancellation you will get your fees back - if they refuse the cancellation you won't get your fees back.

Nothing else you can do sadly - unless whoever comes to pick it up pays you in cash then you will have no worries regarding a chargeback.

Thanks

I will do nothing, the email is sent and I should think they're not going to accept it cos they want the fight

I wouldn't communicate with them any further if I were you - you have refunded and done what you can, just ignore for now, I don't think it is worth the upset.
