Bank transfer - clearing time?

I have a buyer who wants to pay by bank transfer and arrange courier to pick up item. Do I need to wait any particular amount of time for the payment to 'clear' before allowing the courier to come?
I ask because there is a possibility of having courier come tomorrow and I just don't want to get shafted!

I would ask your bank - this would suggest they can be reversed, but I have no idea to be honest

That's a very interesting link. And what's more interesting is that I bank with natwest....bet they can't wait for my call!

Haha - NatWest - well in that case anything could happen! I always thought bank transfer was bomb proof but if it is fraudulent I guess it could be reversed at any time?

Yeah, think that's the only time it could be reversed. Spoke to natwest and they said once a bank transfer has gone through then the other party can't reverse it under normal circumstances.

bank transfer is probably one of the safest ways to move money
