Hi All,

I am seriously short of cash and need to sell some stuff on ebay. Can you please give me an idea of what is selling?
TIA

I am the same as you so I am bumping this for you!

School stuff, like uniform &lunch boxes. Prices might be even better in mid August.
Brownies-scouts-Beaver pack holiday uniform, best prices received from now to end July.
Bicycles
Summer gear, like wetsuits, boards, maybe skates.
Cycling accessories.

My 12-18m size sun protection suit is NOT selling, though.

I recently sold some second hand reusable nappies on ebay, were the old style tots bots and I still sold them for more than twice than I bought them for - with a lot of enquiries from europe - as apparently tots bots dont have a supplier there. I was really surpised how much interest there was.

I also know someone who buys second hand bikes and then strips them down - the parts sell for more than the whole bike would.

If you are crafty, then there are people on Etsy (like ebay but fixed prices) who sell downloadable paper templates, pre-cut applique animals on naice fabric etc, simple craft supplies that would be cheap to make. It seems the people selling craft supplies, rather than their own craft items can do better and have more sales when you check out their feedback.

Or it summer season - so lots of car boot sales etc, if you could find a local one to sell cakes or snacks at, then that can apparently be a good money spinner - although you will need to look into the rules around selling food.

sarahtigh · 24/06/2012 10:55

you were lucky to get away with that as selling second hand reusable nappies on ebay is against the rules ( think rule is debatable though)

collectables sell books don't ( ubnless antiquarian or signed./ first editions)

Thanks all. What about bundles of clothes? Worth it or should I just charity shop?

Plus size clothing does well. Top end high street children's clothing eg Joules, little white company etc. Maxi dresses always sell well. Branded toy bundles such as props, Thomas tank engine...

Nothing is guaranteed on eBay though...

Tryharder · 25/06/2012 23:54

IME bundles of women's clothes rarely do that well unless they are very special and you are very lucky. Children's clothes bundle usually do ok, though.

Aworryingtrend · 28/06/2012 13:43

Maternity clothes seem to be selling well- I am trying to buy and bidding is fierce! There's lots on there but the ones with good pictures with decent looking (not creased to hell!) clothes are going for quite a bit.

FoofFighter · 28/06/2012 13:45

Have you checked if your area has a local Facebook selling page?

lololizzy · 29/06/2012 23:21

For me - Plus sizes.
For me, especially Plus Sizes vintage as it's quite hard to find. It's a myth that all vintage comes up smaller. Yes...compared to today's sizes..but....woman have always been all shapes and sizes. therefore....there are larger sizes out there. So maybe a 22 then is like a 20 now......but the bigger sizes are still available. Apart from 1980s, when much was oversized!
Granny / retro geek chic
Maxi dresses

lololizzy · 29/06/2012 23:21

Use eBay Pulse regularly too

lololizzy · 29/06/2012 23:24

If you ever see any old police or fire brigade memorabilia in junk / charity shops..snap it up , it goes VERY well eg badges , manuals

SpecialAgentSpade · 30/06/2012 21:24

Fab. thanks everyone. Need a serious clear out and some serious cash atm. lololizzy what is Ebay Pulse?

I've put a few things on my local FB page. usually try on there before I put things on Ebay.

Oooo I have 2 wetsuits to sell. Thanks for this thread op.

belledejour · 08/07/2012 13:35

I agree with top-end high street. In my experience, anything from Monsoon, White Company or Boden always goes well. Have also had good prices lately for sports gear from Sweaty Betty and even used (but washed Wink) Spanx knickers!
As it's a free listing weekend am madly posting more expensive items.

whethergirl · 09/07/2012 12:24

I've been doing ebay for years and am finding nothing seems to be selling at the moment! Is anyone else seeing a slump in sales? I sell mainly 2nd hand kids clothes and toys, but also I have been trying to sell one off brand new adult clothes and getting hardly any interest at all.
