2 bids but same start price?

I'm selling a bagI listed it at 9.99 and someone has bid on it.
I then received another notification to say another bid had been received. However the item is still at 9.99 and says 2 bids received.

Am I missing something?
His can it still be the start price?

Confused in Ebayland!

It will be the same bidder. Click on 'bids' on your listing and you will see the same name twice.

the price won't go up unless another bidder comes along. so they bid at start price of £9.99, then added a higher bid but that will not be reached unless someone else bids it up. They prob want the item but may not be about at end of auction so put in an extra bid.

Ah Thank you.
I'm out so can only see limited details on my phone.

same buyer has added a further higher bid then? They must really want the item then.

This answered my question too! If you buy on eBay you can add extra bids so that if someone bids against you, eBay auto-bids up to the maximum entered.

So it must register each amount as a new bid.
