To courier or not to courier pickup item

I have a furniture item up for sale as pickup only and cash on collection. A potential buyer has emailed saying very interested but live in another county and was wondering if they could arrange courier and pay by PayPal.

Im a bit hesitant as although I'm keen to sell this item I want it to go by a recordable method if PayPal is being used, plus I'm not sure if a courier would introduce hassle into the situation, ie, arranging picking up at a convenient time etc. Also I am not keen on being directly involved in booking/paying for courier and rather this be done by buyer.

Are there any good couriers (not a man with a van) that anyone would suggest for large furniture items than can provide a record and are reliable? Or shall I just wait for a more local buyer and stick with cash and collection only?

no - you need online proof of delivery, so you must not accept paypal if they send their own courier. You could ask them for a bank transfer instead and then you are safe from chargebacks.

Thanks for that. May just politely decline and hold out for a hopefully more hassle free local buyer.
