I am going to use ebay for the very first time, i have got 12 items to sell, but it wont be a one off, it would be ongoing, so if those 12 items sell out i would be ordering more for customers if they wanted it. Would i need to get an ebay shop for that?

you will need to register as a business with both eBay and HMRC.

even if new and a business you will have a selling limit to start with could be as low as 10 per month to start and a £100 whichever comes first; will go up quite quickly though, once you get feedback, it will be higher if you link to a personal account that has done some selling, you can request higher selling allowances after 1 month but generally need at least 10 selling feedback and DSR before they will increase it

you have a total of 3 months to register business with HMRC

I requested higher selling limits straight away. Was sent a letter with a code to prove my address presumably, then entered the code and my limit went from 10 to 100 a month straight away. Letter took about 2 days to arrive. Good luck!
