Where do I stand?

Buyer had opened a case and it states that paypal has put a hold on the transaction - except buyer paid cash??

Can eBay refund from my paypal account if the original transaction was cash?

Not wanting to drip feed but buyer bought a violin from me, was perfectly happy to buy it (checked it before she paid etc) got it home, snapped a string and now wants to return for refund??

no they can't force you to refund - it is up to you what you do as it was cash. But a snapped string, seriously? If you do refund then the buyer will need to bring back the violin first of course, and you would need to check your security marks that they are actually returning your violin, not their old broken one.

Thanks fergoose, that's what I thought. I'm totally pissed off with eBay at the moment - I've had a run of bad luck resulting in 5 negatives in the last 12 months and my account has been restricted too Sad

It's just shite and I'm seriously thinking of just doing carboots from now on in Sad

It is shite. Look up local selling pages on Facebook.

That sounds like a scamster trying to get a free violin. Procede with care!

There is no way they can scam you out of your money unless they come to give you the violin and you hand over the cash. Unless they are going to go to small claims - and I doubt they will do that. If I were you I would post them a new violin string and then ignore.
