Cash on Collection - what do you do about "not paid" tag?

For the first time I've sold a heavy and bulky item and agreed cash on collection - the buyer is quite local. Obviously the auction will just remain as "not paid". Does this matter - either for me or for the buyer?

You can 'mark as payment received' in your selling dashboard, once picked up of course.

Oh yes, and presumably then ebay will deduct the fees based on the auction? So not a good idea to give any discount on collection. Goodness, you do need to have a bit of a brain about you, don't you?!

fees are based on sale price, not postage costs.
