i went to leave feedback for an item i had purchased and found automatic 5 stars for item as described and P&P.

Apparantly because there had been no communication between me and the buyer then this is now automatically given. Fair enough.

So what happens in my case when I (in seller mode now ) message the buyer after I have posted their item to say 'thanks - package on its way' is this now automatically exempt from 5 stars for description ?

I have noticed it for p+p before where postage is free, which was annoying because the packaging was appalling!

I always update the dispatch page so I think I might just leave it at that for now. No point in courting attention.

I think the DSRs was always a silly idea anyway - a buyer leaves a positive but can still trash a seller's account by leaving low stars. This new move seems bit odd though - you can only leave low stars if you have emailed the seller first? they should just get rid of the stars all together I reckon in that case.

I think it is if there has been no communication between buyer and seller when he goes to leave feedback it is automatically 5 stars this does not include ticking dispatch box but if you send personal message it is not auto 5 stars also it is auto 5 stars if free postage as the question is were posting and packing charges reasonable, well if it cost nothing it must be reasonable you can still decide on star ratings for item as described and spped of dispatch
