Hoping to get some help, bit a a new ebayer and i have just sold a very large double travel system on ebay. The buyer has emailed me to ask to arrange a courier and pay via paypal. On my listing I clearly stated collection only and cash on collection.

I do not want to box this up and send it, a few reasons but amongst them the buyer has appalling feedback and has bought a lot of buggies in the past where sellers have made comments about not paying.

Anyway my question is what is my next move? Has anyone heard of this?
Can i cancel the sale and do a second chance offer? or does the buyer have to pull out? I'm guessing the buyer will say no to collection when I email them.

You reply politely. The item is collection only. Even if you had contacted me prior to bidding I still wouldn't have agreed to a courier. Please can you let me know when you are thinking of collecting this? It is also cash only on collection therefore I will be refunding your paypal.

Do not under any circumstances accept paypal for collection. The buyer can open a dispute saying not received and no matter what you provide as proof they collected it you will not win!

RedBlanket · 05/05/2012 21:19

Ive done it a few times as a buyer, obviously I would ask first though. Never had a problem but then I'm not out to rip anyone off.

If they've got form as bad payers then don't do it.

Sebbywebby · 05/05/2012 21:26

I actually had some else ask and said no. Stupidly didn't post the question and answer on my page.

I have emailed the buyer with lagoonhaze's advice (Thankyou).

There are lots of really bad comments re non payment on the buyers feedback. If the buyer does pay via paypal as they say they will on Monday (??) what would be next next best move, just to refund?

I had this recently and told the buyer I would only accept collection by courier if the courier would give written confirmation of the condition of the desk when they picked it up....they refused and I cancelled the sale.
Bloody timewaster and I ended up relisting and making less money on the item

xkcdfangirl · 05/05/2012 21:38

Sounds like a scamster. You clearly stated cash only on collection, stick with it and if they don't like the terms you can follow the formal procedure to get the transaction cancelled (if there was a multi-bidder auction you may be able to make the sale to the next-highest bidder)

thisisyesterday · 05/05/2012 21:45

say no, it's cash on collection only as stated in auction

then you need them to agree to mutually cancel the contract

then you can do a second chance offer, or relist

tethersend · 05/05/2012 21:48

I often use a courier to collect bulky items as I don't drive, BUT I always email the seller before I bid and check that they are ok with it.

As the buyer didn't bother to do this, you can cancel the sale with an easy conscience.

lagoonhaze · 05/05/2012 21:50

Plus even if they organise a courier with your agreement you are still leaving yourself wide open to abuse as you still have no proof of delivery thats you've organised.

sarahtigh · 06/05/2012 16:02

if you agree to courier; then please please arrange courier yourself then the paypal is fine remember to add £2 plus for getting giant boxes to wrap around it it will take 30 minutes to wrap a pushchair.

otherwise insist on cash on collection if he pays paypal just refund because if he collects you want cash; if he is not collecting he is not getting so you refund anyway better to lose ebay fees than whole amount

I sometimes ask sellers re couriers as often they just are not familar with prices but i would email before end of auction

Sebbywebby · 06/05/2012 21:13

Thank you for all your help. I contacted seller, they claimed they did not see it was collection only and have pulled out of the sale.
I relisted this morning with collection only in capitals and will not arrange courier clearly stated and have had 2 emails so far asking if the buyer could arrange courier- one in Bulgaria! grrr!
Thanks for the advice re courier, but I really dont want to send via courier, this would be 5-6 boxes worth!!

Did you cancel sale so you got you fees back?

Sebbywebby · 06/05/2012 22:55

Bloody hell! am going to give up with this. the buyer from bulgaria has done the buy it now option even after i emailed them to say no I would not courier the buggy. will be sending the same email (thank you again lagoonhaze).
I re-listed the item and deleted it so no idea if that was the right way to go about it but had enough now, hoping that I avoid fees.

Go into sold items and use drop down menu to cancel sale. Deleting is not enough to avoid fees.

When you relist again restrict user buyer requirements.

And block both of the user names - help menu - search block list

sarahtigh · 07/05/2012 12:24

GO TO BUYER RESTRICTIONS select block bidders from countries I do not post to you can also block bidders tha have 2 or more unpaid item strikes
