Hi there I was hoping someone could help us out.

We are about to emigrate to the UAE and we are currently selling our life on eBay to try to cut down on the sheer volume of stuff we have to store or ship and to at least try to build a war chest for the first month or so we're over there.

Some of our items (many of them in fact) are over 4kg (collections of comics etc) and we're often looking at £10-15+ for P&P. We do offer collection on everything but we were wondering if folks could recommend cheaper couriers than Parcelforce/Royal Mail.

collect+ for 1-2kg is £4 and 2-5kg £5

hermes and parcel2go quite cheap too only use royal mail for fragile stuff like ceramics or glass

yodel take up to 20 or 25kg for about £6.99 plus vat

they prefer boxes so l+d+h =120cm nothing greater than 60cm, so try and get into box like crisp box

if long like a fishing rod royal mail still best bet

just rember to add in description that couriers to scottish highlands & islands and other remote parts are often more ( about £15) so for these royal mail will still be cheapest, if you don't add this you risk subsiding courier to remote areas

Does Ebay let you charge more than £4 for postage? I'm flogging some magazine bundles & £4 is the max I'm being told.

you select heavy and bulky item instead of domestic flat charge and write details in listing, this must be genuinely heavy/ bulky not a get out clause

ie very large hardbacks weightly 2kg+ or collections max there is £7 but must be under collections and lots in book section
