That sucks, I have a weird feeling that f/back can be mutually retracted, wait for Fergoose to come along & confirm.

You need to compose a concise explanatory comment, like "Buyer left f/back on day item received without even telling me they had a problem" which would say volumes more about them than about you.

Contact eBay - this happened to DP and they will mediate for you and remove the negative feedback.

fergoose · 03/05/2012 20:27

I agree about calm measured response - eBay normally will only retract if it breaks the rules. Worth going to live help and asking though?

I had the same from someone who didn't contact me direct but mentioned in their -ve feedback a problem that was mentioned TWICE in my listing!

I asked them to withdraw it but heard nothing back so just responded to the feedback comment.

Reply to the feeback comment as suggested above. They will sound mad, not you!!

PoohBearsHole · 04/05/2012 14:06

Have to say, I always look at the neg fb, and if there has been a calm and measured response then I don't think anything of it. It is the same with any purchase that is expensive, if the company have come back with a measured response and an apology then i don't think any worse of them.

I am sure I am not the only one, but measured and calm is the way to go as said above.

Don't sweat the negative feedback. I've had 4 in the last 12 months, all from buyers who have failed to contact me first, which is just rude and says more about them than me.

You can respond in feedback area though so other buyers/sellers know you are calm and reasonable.

deliakate · 04/05/2012 14:19

The exact same thing happened to me.

I sent the buyer an email, saying how I was really sorry that they were disappointed. I explained that expectations for the condition of second hand clothing can be higher for some people than for others, and that I thought the top was in fine condition - I was only selling as my son had grown out of it, otherwise he would still be wearing it. Didn't mention a refund.

The buyer was really nice. He responded saying sorry, he had left the feedback in haste, and the garment was ok. He requested ebay to revise it, and gave me a positive feedback in the end, with a little comment about quality. But a great outcome!

Why not contact the buyer first? Being really polite and business like can help hugely, I find, with disputes.

It's just one of the risks of selling stuff on ebay tbh so you have to suck it up - you can't make them retract it. You have no control over who is buying your stuff or what kind of feedback they'll leave...

perceptionreality · 04/05/2012 14:26

Btw - just to put the other side of this. It can be very annoying when you buy something that looked better in the photo than when it arrived and it can be tempting to leave negative feedback at that point. I'm not saying this is what happened in your case but just saying that's happened to me a number of times.

sarahtigh · 05/05/2012 14:28

just add him to your blocked bidders list and add comment

" if buyer had contacted me prior to feedback he could have had full refund once goods returned"

optional start with " sorry you are disappointed then as above..."

then you look like good seller and negative will not affect you

roosterroo · 07/05/2012 15:43

No reply from my buyer - so have blocked and will leave a follow up.

I have issued refund as I dont want any further dealings.

some people just want something for nothingWink
