Is it a good idea to finish a listing on a bank holiday weekend Sunday eve?

Just that, really. I have stuff to list this weekend and was delighted to see it's free listing - and then realised that next weekend will be a bank holiday, so the normal advice to finish a listing on a Sunday evening might not apply, as bidders may be away for the w/e.
Oh wise and more experienced ebayers, what is your experience? Is it worth ending listings next weekend?

Is it a bank holiday? I thought it was on May the 7th?

I used to avoid ending listings on a bank holiday, but tbh I think so many people have iphones and laptops now that it doesn't really matter.

I never end listings on a sunday, always monday or tuesday is best in my experience.

gobblers if i list the items this Sunday for a week then bidding will close on Sunday 6th, so on the bank holiday weekend of Monday 7th. But take your point re ipads and smartphones - hadn't really thought about it like that. Or maybe i should list for a longer period to avoid next Sunday

fergoose is that for a particular type of listing? most of the ebayers on here and in rl seem to swear by Sunday eve....

Blush Christ I am not with it today, you are, of course totally right.

FWIW I have rather a lot finishing on that Sunday, just because I didn't think.

All my listings finish on a Sunday, I find I do much better than on other days, but that Friday and Saturday are the worst. Also don't dip into 9pm territory, everyone has retired to the box.

no not a particular type of listing - I don't agree there are more bidders on a Sunday night, Sundays used to be glitchy on eBay also so have always avoided then for ending listings to be honest.

I know you are far more ebay savvy than me fergoose, but when I first started listing, I did it toally randomly, so stuff would just finish 7 days after I put in on, whether that be 2pm on a Wednesday or 11am on a Saturday. Through a process of trial and error I eventually worked out that 7.30 to 8.30 on a Sunday night got the highest bids, but that's just what works for me.

Most of my things end on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. I try to avoid things finishing on a Sunday if they've been listed on a free listing day because there is usually a lot more listings due to f/l. However, there have been a lot of f/l weekends recently so maybe there isn't as much of an increase in listings.

I've never really noticed a major difference in bids depending on which night things are finishing. I do list most things for 10 days though to get as many views as possible. I know this puts some people off but it seems to work ok for me.

According to the gadget show Blush sorry but I am very envious of suzi perry Grin

She said that sunday afternoons and evenings and thursday evenings have the best selling times. I don't know why but I started selling do they ended at these times and its right my things always sell at these times rather than other times where they either don't sell or end at 99p

thanks everyone for your feedback. i just needed to make start on decluttering, so went ahead and listed a few items to end on Sunday evening

by the time I finished working on them and then listed for a week, the listings are finishing quite late. so i need to see if I can change the end time at least.

that said, some items have bids already (wo-hoo!) - may be just a few quid each but it is a start Smile
