Paypal payment made, but not through eBay - where to send the item??

I sold an item on eBay, but was contacted by the buyer saying she was having problems with her Paypal, and could I send her my e-mail address so she could pay by Paypal directly.

I did so, and have received payment, but it came from someone with a completely different name to the eBay buyer. And when I look at the transaction details on Paypal, there are no address details!

The only address I have is the one on eBay, and I am concerned that I won't be covered by Paypal Seller Protection if I send to that person.

She seems genuine from her eBay feedback - but I don't know how to proceed!

You need to send to the paypal address not the eBay one, but there isn't an address linked with the paypal then? that is strange. Maybe she is using a friends paypal? It could be her partner at the same address so it may be the same address - I guess email and ask and send with signature is my advice.

Did she send it as a gift payment? (where no fees were taken) As there is never any address details on those

Dizzy - I think that's what she must have done.

It's not that I don't trust her, but I just want to make sure I'm covered - £30 is £30!

It would be her that's not covered as she couldn't claim back the payment if you don't send!

I think she could claim item not received - have you emailed the buyer and asked. Send with a signature anyway to protect yourself.

Fergoose, that's my concern. It says clearly on Paypal that you are only covered by Seller Protection if you send to the Paypal-registered address and get a signature on delivery. But I can't see the Paypal address (because she clearly hasn't put the payment through as "payment for goods").

On the one hand I'm probably being a fussy nitpicker causing needless trouble for a completely honest buyer, but I don't know......grrr....Why do people make things so complicated??

I have e-mailed her - no response yet.

well without the address you can't send it can you - so if no reply then eventually you would just refund. Sounds odd that her paypal isn't working?

There's her eBay address, the one which comes up on the notification that you have sold your item. But I want to see it in Paypal!

No reply from her yet......but I do have her money. At what point do I refund and start applying the thumbscrews?!
