I bought my LO dresses 2 weeks ago and they still haven't arrived after a bit of chasing the seller swears they sent it. It has been signed for by whom I have no idea. It turns out she sent them to an old address.

(partially my fault for not have deleted it from my profile)

I've bought well over 30 items in the past 6 months all arrived ok, so I have no idea how she got that address from my profile. So now I've traipsed halfway across London back to the old address and it's nowhere to be found. If I raise a case surely she'll just say its been sent and provide tracking number meanwhile I'm ££ down. Argggg I'm so Angry

was the address given to the seller by paypal? If so seller is not at fault here. You will need to delete your old address from paypal & eBay.

Ouch. DH did this a while ago, can't remember the outcome but it was very frustrating. I did it with a paypal address and had a big job convincing my buyer I'd made a mistake rather than trying to con him out of more money.

So someone at your old address signed for the package but denied it when you spoke to them?

I had a weird thing on PP recently where something got sent to an old address I've not lived at or used for years was given as the address on PayPal - I didn't think to look/check as as far as I knew it had been deleted. Anyway, it just popped up out of no where and was given to seller as my delivery address. Now I check!!!

It is up to you to ensure the correct delivery information is passed on - you can hardly hold the seller responsible! You say 'partly your fault' but it is not in any way the sellers fault. They sent the goods to the address you provided - what else would you expect them to do?

jammydoger · 26/04/2012 15:27

The weird thing is the old address was on my eBay profile as a return address. So I don't understand how this happened! My paypall addresses are all up to date hence why I've had no past issues.

I thought everyone sends to confirmed PayPal addresses? It is my fault for having an old address on eBay but as I said I've bought 30+ items in the last few months without any trouble.

I think that a seller needs to send to the registered Paypal address to be covered.

have you checked the PayPal transaction to see what address was given to seller?

jammydoger · 26/04/2012 15:39

The seller says she used the address from my eBay profile. Not my PayPal. Both ebay shipping address and paypal address are the same. I'm baffled as to what happened here. Anyways my question is can I raise a case for item not received? Given that i've been unable to find it at the old address?

For PayPal seller protection the seller needs to "Post to the buyer's address provided in the 'Details' link in (their) account history."

i.e. the PayPal registered address.

SoupDragon · 26/04/2012 15:52

Hmmm.. but on Ebay it says

"The buyer has conflicting addresses between eBay and PayPal. Which one do I use?
If there is a conflict between addresses listed on the PayPal "transaction details" page and the eBay "view order details" page, we'll consider sellers to have met their shipping obligations under eBay Buyer Protection if they choose either address."

I would file a not received claim with eBay then - see what they say - worth a try surely?
