My emails come up on my phone so ive had 2 of them this week, the first saying it was from service@ and telling me to review my paypal limited account statement.

when i opened it up it says click here to activate my account, thought it was dodgy so i ignored it, then had a second email yesterday saying the same thing, i opened up paypal on my laptop and all seems fine, the only thing thats changed this week was as i was a new seller paypal were holding my money for so long, this has now been removed as ive been on there a good while.

its obviously dodgy but other people would possibly just click on the activate my account link and type in their email address and password, its all real looking the only reason i knew it wasnt as there were 2 lines for the email address and 2 lines for the password where on paypal there is usually only 1 line for each.

Is it addressed to your actual name or something like 'dear paypal customer'?

I didn't get that one, but do have one from "PayPal" saying that my credit card ending in expires soon and I should give them new card details.

Except that I fund my PayPal account via a debit card which does not end with those digits and which doesn't expire until December.

Everything else looks kosher, even the advice to type the url myself (though a link is, of course, included...)

Phishing, I reckon. But fairly sophisticated.

I've had what I think are a couple of dodgy emails meant to be from Paypal, when I hovered (sp?) over the link where it says click here to log in the webpage listed is something like greendale-homestead.com.au. I just logged into Paypal direct instead but can't see any problem there - the balance is still £0 anyway!

Its addressed to an old email address that i had a paypal account for quite a few years ago which made me think it was dodgy, everything else looks exactly like paypal though so they are getting good at creating them.

vix1980 this is very important... if you still have that old paypal account you need to close it NOW. If paypal find out that you have two account with them you will be going through the same thing I'm going through. I had one that i had forgotten about and it's caused me no end of problems.
