WHY DON'T PEOPLE PAY FOR THEIR "WIN" ANYMORE GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Sorry for the shouting but seriously, is it just me or do people just bid, win and then don't pay. I'm getting really fed up of it. Since you can't leave bad feedback people don't care.

eBay is becoming a nightmare and I getting fed up with chasing people for 99p.

Know that feeling and can sympathise, especially if I have packed up the stuff ready!

somewhereinsummertime · 20/04/2012 16:28

I'm the same. Have sold something for a couple of pounds, wrapped it and ready to go. Five days on they haven't paid.

Anyone know why you can't leave feedback to this effect?

fergoose · 20/04/2012 16:37

You can start the unpaid item process on day 4

sellers can't leave a neg, or even a negative comment, to encourage buyers to leave honest feedback without the risk of retaliative feedback from sellers. eBay changed the rules a while ago.

Tryharder · 20/04/2012 19:12

Agree 100%. What makes me especially cross is when they win an auction against other bidders so effectively preventing a serious buyer from winning. And then don't bother paying. And then don't even have the common courtesy to reply to a polite email asking if they still want the item.

I really have no problem with people changing their mind. I don't want to sell something to someone who doesn't really want it or who is buying under duress. But they could at least let me know rather than ignoring my emails.

They are rude and ignorant!

picnicbasketcase · 20/04/2012 19:17

I don't get why so many buyers bid at the last moment, so they are definitely there when the auction finishes.. and then take a week to pay Hmm If I do that, I pay as soon as the item has ended. They can't possible all be using sniper sites.

IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 20/04/2012 19:24

eBay is a ball ache.

I have to do lots every few weeks to space out the trauma.

boogiewoogie · 20/04/2012 19:51

Speaking of non paying winners. I've had one win on Tuesday, invoice sent Thursday and no news still. Another won yesterday, probably too soon as I won't be able to go to PO anyway until Monday. The first one is a newbie, only has fb score of 13 since January but I'm thinking of opening a no pay dispute if nothing happens by Wednesday evening next week. Is that harsh? I've not done this before and given that she is fairly new, I'm inclined to email her first on say Sunday to warn her. WWYD?

fergoose · 20/04/2012 19:59

No it is not harsh - I always open the dispute on day 4 - if they aren't going to pay there is really no point in waiting days or weeks.

somewhereinsummertime · 21/04/2012 18:14

I agree. I now have two bids won and not paid and no communication. Now I will have to open disputes, realist etc and my original other bidders may have moved on. Time Ebay did something about this. I thought it was legally binding that you bought if you won the bid??

sarahtigh · 21/04/2012 19:29

personally if not paid i send an invoice reminder after 48hours then on day 4 an email reminder and open dispute on day 6-7 ( if a long weekend like easter i would allow a day or two longer) but a week is plenty

there are silly buyers just like silly sellers who have all their auctions ending Sunday night you pay straight away and then post first class the following thursday if you are not going to post for 3 days dont offer to post 1st class; if you can only go to PO on thursday don't end your auction on sunday end them tuesday

somewhereinsummertime · 21/04/2012 22:59

Why do these people bother bidding? What REALLY annoys me is that both my outstanding buyers get 100% on their feedback. In fact several people have been rating them both over last few days saying fast payment etc and yet I have emailed and invoiced and not heard a thing from either. So they are active, just ignoring me. And, I can't make any public comment on them if they don't pay up so they'll still be '100% great'.

boogiewoogie · 22/04/2012 14:36

Oh dear, the buyer that I'm waiting for to pay up has just received a fb message from a seller to say that she bids then tries to cancel.. not looking good. :(

fergoose · 22/04/2012 17:44

Have you opened the dispute yet? - if not get it opened now I reckon. No point waiting if they aren't going to pay is there.

ConstanceChatterley · 22/04/2012 17:57

This really annoys me too. I don't mind if people are up front and ask if they can pay in a week as it's payday or that they have changed their mind etc, but just to ignore it really gets on my nerves.

And whilst we are on ebay bugbears...people who message you asking if you post to x,y or z countries when you specifically say on your listing that you don't and select the no international option.

somewhereinsummertime · 22/04/2012 17:59

Opened the dispute. Am really [fed up emoticon]

boogiewoogie · 22/04/2012 21:20

Think I'll have to I'm afraid. What happens next?

fergoose · 22/04/2012 21:37

You close it in 4 days, buyer gets strike, you get your fees back and then you do second chance offer or relist. Sooner you get it opened sooner you can sell your item to someone who will pay for it.

RachelHRD · 22/04/2012 23:07

Yep it's a total PITA - I just closed a case on a guy who won a BN book for 99p and has gone on and won and paid for other stuff since but no reply to my case which I opened a week after he won it. Other people need the nudge of a case to pay. In the month or so I have been selling I have had to open 3 cases - all for really low value items Angry

Also annoying that you can't even comment negatively on their feedback

somewhereinsummertime · 23/04/2012 08:34

Am totally with you rachel. My supposed buyer has just said they don't want it after I finally opened a dispute. For £3 I have had to chase and chase and been ignored until now. They now say they didn't know what it was when in fact I put on two photos of this very well known toy plus the Amazon description. Come on!

RachelHRD · 23/04/2012 09:21

Feel your pain somewhere it's such a waste of time - OK if they are high value items you can maybe understand it. Also why not contact after the auction and say really sorry don't want it - I'd be far more willing to help if they didn't mess you around!!

wizzler · 24/04/2012 20:50

I have been ebaying for about a year with no issues but in the last 2 weeks, I have really been suffering with none payers. One person asked if they could delay payment till they got paid, which I said was fine, but that was 6 days ago and still no contact at all despite 2 emails from me . ( Case now opened)

Why bid if you don't want it..? One bidder had had feednack saying they had not paid and transaction cancelled three time ( 100% of their transactions) ..Boogie . might be the same as your buyer, were you selling bundles of girls T Shirts ?

boogiewoogie · 24/04/2012 22:32

Wizzler that is a spooky guess! Incidentally, this buyer has paid but the one I've opened a case against hasn't.
